Most of us spent a large portion of our lives in our home and are not aware the health risks and hidden hazards that can exist in the home environment.
We bombard our bodies daily with pollution, stress, alcohol, food additives, pesticides, and all sorts of other chemicals and toxins, so it makes sense for the body to need space for rest and recuperation. The body has an intrinsic desire to heal and regenerate however it needs to be given the right set of circumstances for this to occur. Our home is the perfect place for rest and regeneration however many homes are full of toxins, further adding to the cumulative toxic load which can mean the body is constantly under stress, not being able to recuperate, and not functioning at its optimal level. This can lead to illness and disease.
Our DNA holds information on certain diseases that we may have a predisposition for, and studies show that it’s our lifestyle and environment that can dictate how these genes are ultimately expressed. Things such as high levels of electromagnetic radiation, mould, chemicals, and other toxins in the home can have a huge detrimental impact on health.
Our physical environment can affect not only our physical health but also how we feel on a daily basis, our mental health, fertility, energy levels, performance, happiness, and soul expression.
I experienced this firsthand when I ended up with chronic illness that was continuously triggered by toxins in the home. I moved house several times and it wasn’t until I joined the dots and educated myself, I could finally fix the problem and regain my health. Once I realised the enormity of the nexus between health issues and our environment, I immediately felt the desire to combine my passion for property development with wellness and “Amara by Design” was born.
Yes, you can install saunas, ice baths, and other wellness features within a home but the property location, design, construction, and materials used are all equally important elements required for creating a safe home environment that literally makes you feel good.
The “International Well Building Institute” provides a leading global movement transforming our buildings and communities by promoting wellness and helping people thrive. Their “well building certification”, predominately featured in commercial buildings, provides standards for 10 key wellness concepts including:
Amara by Design seeks to incorporate these wellness concepts into the design and construction of all our residential projects.
Our key wellness features include things such as water filtration, air filtration, edible gardens, mould and moisture mitigation, lighting which supports the circadian rhythm and psychological health, thermal and acoustic comfort, spaces which encourage mindfulness, space for movement, low-tox paints, and other natural low-tox materials.
Another innovative feature we believe is extremely important that can provide immense health benefits, is a design which minimises electromagnetic radiation (EMR) in high use areas, particularly in the bedrooms to ensure safe and restorative sleep.
